Ellensburg, WA - The Central Washington University football player who was stabbed over the weekend has been upgraded to satisfactory condition.
Sophomore linebacker Steve Sakalia suffered multiple stab wounds early saturday morning in an incident just off-campus.
Ellensburg Police say Sakalia needed CPR. Head football coach John Zamberlin says his initial prognosis wasn't good, but Sakalia has made tremendous strides in recent days.
A university spokesperson says he could be back to school as early as next week.
