CWU Football Player Released From Hospital After Stabbing Last Weekend
Ellensburg, WA - A spokesperson from Central Washington University says the football player who was stabbed over the weekend was discharged from the hospital today.
Sophomore linebacker Steve Sakalia had been in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Sakalia spoke to KNDO by phone this morning and said he was well enough to walk around.
He also talked about the stabbing early on Saturday morning. He says he was walking home when he was attacked just off campus on 18th avenue. He says two people approached him initially, but then as many as 15 people showed up behind him. He says they appeared to be teenagers and adults. He says he did not know his attackers, but he did recognize some faces.
Ellensburg Police are still looking for suspects. They arrested a 16-year-old for rendering criminal assistance in relation to the case.
