The X-Factor at Kamiakin
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kamiakin has lots of talent this year, but the one name that jumps out is "X." That's X Wornell - real name Exstacy Wornell. The running back's interesting name used to be a burden.
"When I was younger, I was like 'what the heck,' when I found out what it was. But now, it's just like, 'who cares?' It's just a name. Everybody likes it, so I guess I can like it too."
It definitely provides for more good nicknames.
"Super X, X-Man, The X," offered Braves teammate Brandon Schmidt. "Or I'll just call him 'X.' He's my buddy."
"Believe it or not, I had hair like X once," laughed Coach Craig Beverlin. "I told him if you coach football long enough you'll end up looking like mine. He's a fun-loving kid, excellent student. I call him the X-Factor."
X didn't do much in the Braves 28-0 win over Hanford, but hopes to contribute more against Southridge this Friday night at Lampson Stadium. Some 'concentration" issues at practice led to decreased carries against the Falcons, but that's behind him. It's X-ed from his memory.
