Sun Kings Considering Gonzaga's Batista

YAKIMA, Wash. - With the CBA draft set for Tuesday, the Sun Kings could select another Gonzaga player. Head Coach Paul Woolpert told KNDO that the team has scouted Gonzaga forward JP Batista.

Last year, the Sun Kings drafted Ronny Turiaf in the fourth round. Initially, the team didn't expect to Turiaf to suit up since the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers picked Turiaf in the second round of the NBA Draft. Turiaf played nine games with the Sun Kings, and attendance saw a considerable boost.

Woolpert did say even if the team doesn't draft Batista, it has its eye on local players that are familiar to the fan base.

Woolpert added that popular forward Richard Dionne would return to the team. Dionne was a fan favorite last year, especially among Native Americans. The Sun Kings are owned by Yakama Nation.
