Body found near Highway 730 in Oregon
UMITILLA COUNTY, Wash. - A hunter found the body of a Hispanic man off Highway 730 near Umatilla County. Police think he was murdered.
Oregon Authorities are trying to piece together this mystery and they are asking for the public's help.
Police report that early Saturday morning a hunter pulled into the McNary Wildlife Refuge and saw the body of a man in his mid-30's. The hunter called 911.
Oregon State Police Lieutenant Greg Hastings said, "We believe we've tentatively identified who it is and there's some more work to do in that regard."
Authorities have not released the name of the victim and will not say if the family has been notified but they do think he was murdered.
Hastings said, "There's evidence at the scene as well as detailed observation of the deceased that it indicates he was a homicide victim."
It has turned into a multi-agency operation a number of Oregon police departments, sheriff's offices and the Umatilla County Major Crime Team are working together to try and figure out what happened.
Police are asking for the public's help. Hastings said, "We are seeking potential witnesses. Anyone that might have seen some suspicious activity near highway 730."
The Oregon State Police said they would have more information about the entire case Monday afternoon.
