Body of Pasco man found near Highway 730 in Oregon
UMATILLA COUNTY, Oregon - The body of a Pasco man was found off Highway 730.
The Umatilla County District Attorney Christopher Brauer said the victim had multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Oregon Authorities were in the Tri-Cities questioning people that might be involved.
The body of 32-year-old Ruperto Torres was found early Saturday morning. The District Attorney said he worked for a cherry farmer in Pasco.
Police said his body was found near the McNary Wildlife Refuge.
Authorities from all over Oregon are working together on this case and said drugs might be involved.
A Hispanic male went to a Hermiston hospital for a gunshot wound Friday night and told authorities that he was in the same around where the body was found.
The District Attorney said there might be a connection. Brauer said, "This has all the underpinning and earmarks of a drug deal gone bad."
Brauer reports that the man that was taken to the hospital has a bullet lodged near his spine but is expected to survive.
Authorities said there was evidence of exchanged gunfire at the murder scene.
Investigators are looking for anyone who saw suspicious activity between Friday evening and Saturday morning near Highway 730. They also want to speak with anyone who knows or might have worked with Torres in Pasco.
