UMATILLA COUNTY, Oregon - The Umatilla County Sheriff spoke out about group that criticized him and tried to collect signatures against him.
The group did not collect enough signatures to recall the sheriff.
Sheriff John Trumbo claims the recall was politically motivated.
The group accused him of ignoring public safety, misconduct and criticized his overall performance.
They needed about 2,700 signatures by today to add the issue to the fall ballot but the group only collect about 6-hundred.
The sheriff said the accusations come from someone who used to work in his office that wanted to take his position.
Trumbo said, "We were able to refute them one-hundred percent that tells you that they came to battle without any ammunition."
The group has reportedly stated that issues have improved since they made their accusations.
