Eyewitness Reports Man Beating his Wife
PASCO, Wash. - An eyewitness saw a man punching his wife while driving down the road near Lewis Street Monday night and called 911. Officers now thank the caller for helping put a man in jail.
The eyewitness followed the truck long enough to get a detailed description of the man punching his wife in the head and torso. Once the truck was pulled over, the man was arrested. His wife, who was in so much pain could barely walk, insisted her husband did not hit her.
Pasco Police Officer Mike Nelson said the eyewitness' information was enough to put the man in the Franklin County Jail for the night and adds calls from citizens can save the life of an abused woman.
"You are making your community a better place and you may be saving a life maybe not tonight but somewhere down the road," said Nelson.
Nelson says it's obvious our community is taking notice of domestic violence and is not tolerating the abuse.
Since 1998, 15 women have been killed by abusive husbands or boyfriends and over 30 people have been killed in domestic violence attacks.
Officers urge you to call 911 if you ever see someone being abused.
