Kennewick -- Volunteers are needed for the Benton Franklin County Guardian Ad Litem program, otherwise known as Benton/Franklin CASA/GAL Program.
Those who are trained will act as court-appointed special advocates who serve children in Dependency cases. The are appointed by a judge to advocate for abused and neglected children who are usally in foster homes.
At present, there are four hundred children in Benton and Franklin counties who are wards of the court. Just 267 have a Guardian Ad Litem to represent their needs before the court.
If you would like to volunteer, apply as soon as possible by calling 736-2711 or 736-2710. Training is scheduled for November 3, 17, and December 1 from 8:00 until 5:00.
