3,000 Marijuana Plants Found Near Homicide Investigation Scene
UMATILLA, Wash - There is a strange twist in the investigation of a Pasco man found shot to death near Umatilla. A whole field of marijuana has been found in the same area.
Ruperto Zuniga Torres was found shot to death Saturday near Umatilla off Highway 730.
The field of plants was found Tuesday when members of the Umatilla County Major Crime Team were investigating the killing and ran into two men walking with a bucket full of freshly cut marijuana, said Umatilla County District Attorney, Christopher Brauer.
The 3,000 plants that were found have a street value of about 3 million dollars.
Brauer told KNDU in earlier interviews that the murder appears to have been a drug deal gone bad. Today he said finding the plants could be more than a coincidence.
A Kennewick home has been looked at in the search for the killer.
Investigators are specifically interested in finding cars with a lot of broken glass and anyone who has been asked to repair them.
