Yakima County Receives Money To Maintain Snowmobile Trails

YAKIMA, Wa -  Yakima County receives more than $143,000 in federal funding to maintain backcountry trails.

$75,000 will go to washington state parks and rec to maintain snowmobile trails in the county.

A spokesman from State Parks and Rec says that right now their revenue from the snowmobile season is not meeting expenses, but that the federal money will bridge the gap and allow them to maintain the snowmobile trails with the same regularity this coming winter.

Registration was down by 2,000 last year compared to an average year.

There are 330 miles of snowmobile trails in Yakima County.
