PASCO, Wash. - Troopers said a woman is lucky to be alive after being trapped in her burning car after it crashed into the back of a semi-truck.
28-year-old Alma Hernandez broke her hip and wrist after she hit the semi while headed south on 395.
Troopers said her totaled car was towed by Pasco Towing.
Trooper Marty Finan put the fire out. He said, "I'm glad she's okay. She's got some broken bones, but I was there in time to put the fire out before it got any bigger than it did."
Troopers said the driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
Troopers report that Hernandez was not paying attention and got to close to the truck. She was taken to Kennewick General Hospital for her injuries.
