Cougs Narrowly Defeated by Trojans; Huskies Double Last Year's Wins!
PULLMAN, Wash - They may be ranked as one of the top three teams in the nation, but this afternoon the University of Southern California Trojans were given quite a scare on the Palouse. The Washington State Cougars fought heartily against the Men of Troy and gave them quite a scare! But in the end U.S.C. came out on top, 28-22. Alex Brink was 26 of 46 passing for 278 yards and one touchdown. Dwight Tardy had 11 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Bumpus led receivers with 11 catches for 112 yards. The game did go down to the wire, with just seconds left on the clock the Cougs were in position to tie the game at 28, but Brink's pass was intercepted on the 2 yard line. This loss puts the Cougs at 3-2.
Meawhile, the Huskies headed down to Tucson today to face the Arizona Wildcats... Isaiah Stanback threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns to lead Washington to its third straight victory. In his sophomore season, Ty Willingham's team has already doubled their victory total from last year. Washington is now 4-1.
