Race Fans Pack into Yakima Speedway

The Fall Classic was held at the Yakima Speedway last Sunday and thousands of fans packed the stands.

Some race fans have been coming to Yakima for five or ten years, often times making a whole weekend out of it and traveling in their RV's and going to the fair.

Local businesses really benefit as visitors make trips for all the necesities, check out rooms at hotels, and of course filling up on gas before heading home.

The Yakima Speedway is home to Yakima's largest spectator events but is only open 24 days a year.  Track manager, Ron Bennet says that makes turning a profit a little tricky.

There has been a proposal to sell the speedway but at the moment the owners are against the idea.
