Autopsy Results in for Death of Prosser Man in Umatilla
UMATILLA, Oreg.- Autopsy results are in on the body of a Prosser man found floating in the Columbia River.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner said David Allison died by drowning.
Allison's body was found Monday afternoon, floating near his boat at the Umatilla Marina.
Allison had reportedly spent the weekend on his sailboat before the Marina Manager found his body floating in the river.
Reports say alcohol may have been involved in his death.
"It looks as if he probably was struggling while he was in the water. As I say, we still have some tests to do, which we are doing alcohol and toxicology to see if there's anymore there," said Dr. Karen Gunson, the Oregon State Medical Examiner.
Gunson said empty alcohol containers were found on the boat, but it is too early to tell whether drinking could have caused the drowning.
Allison was a well known researcher at the Washington State University Extension in Prosser, where he worked for more than 23 years.
