YAKIMA, Wash -- A semi-truck hit a power pole shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
The Yakima Fire Department says the semi was turning onto 24th avenue from Washington avenue when it hit the pole. The truck knocked out three power transformers and damaged another one across the street.
Close to eleven-hundred residents were without power for about two hours.
Haz-mat teams were called to the scene to clean up the chemical leaking from the transformer. Power officials told KNDO that the transformer was new, and did not contain any deadly PCBs.
