WASHINGTON D.C. - Representative Doc Hastings is leading the investigation into the scandal involving the Speaker of the House.
Representative Hastings is the Chairman of the House Ethics Committee. Thursday it established a new sub-committee in charge of determining two things: Did Florida Representative Mark Foley send sexually explicit emails to a 16-year-old congress page? And did Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert know about it?
Hastings said the sub-committee will not rest until it can answer questions of concerned Americans.
"We pledge to you our investigation will go wherever the evidence leads us. We have no higher priority," Hastings said.
Hastings and the sub-committee have already approved four dozen subpoenas for documents and testimony of members, officers and staff of the house.
Hastings' opponent for the November election, Richard Wright, is demanding Hastings complete investigation hearings prior to election day.
