If you get in an accident and an officer doesn't take a report at the scene, you can now get one online and fill it out yourself.
This is made available by the Washington State Patrol.
However, Jason Davis, a Washington State Patrol Trooper said it is really in the victim's best interest to wait for law enforcement to show up. Davis said there are some instances where it may be easier to just use the new online form.
"Lets say two people get into a collision and they happen to be two honest people, there's no need to go through us if their damages are taken care of correctly," Davis said.
If Washington State Patrol is called, they will always show up, it just may take a while sometimes, Davis said. If someone is hurt or damages are more than 700 dollars, a report is required.
