YAKIMA, Wash. - AAA Washington wants to prevent people from paying too much for repairs.
The key isn't in the ignition, it's in your hands.
The car safety company says the four most costly repairs deal with your brakes, cooling system failures, engine replacement and automatic transmission rebuilds.
But AAA officials say simple maintenance is the way to avoid these costly repairs.
Here are some tips to keep you on the road again.
Firstly, be sure to follow the maintenance schedule in your vehicle's owner's manual.
If you hear your brakes squeakingm, then it's time to head to the repair shop.
Have your cooling system flushed every 24 months or about every 30,000 miles.
And finally, change your automatic transmission fluid and its filter.
