Video of Double Blow-over of Circus Circus & Miss Madison

The person that uploaded this video to youtube says it's from the 1988 San Diego, California race with this description:   "A strong crosswind from the ocean caught the drivers of the Miss Circus Circus and Miss Madison off guard as both boats blowover.

Regardless, it's a pretty impressive sight to see two boats blow-over within seconds of each other, totally independant of each other.

Thanks to Rob & Kevin for emailing us to let us know that it was indeed the 1988 San Diego race.

From Rob Price:
The following is taken from 'The Circus Circus Story' by Brad Haskin on the Hydroplane Museum website at:

"In the first heat of the San Diego race... a sudden gust of wind hit both boats and gracefully lifted them skyward. The spectacular "double flip" footage still makes the highlight films to this day. The Circus boat hit the water so hard that, though it landed upright, it literally broke the boat in half. Only the engine mounts kept both halves attached."
