Consumers Still Eating Their Vegetables

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash -- Another day another vegetable recall. Green leaf lettuce joined spinach and carrot juice on the list of recently recalled foods.

For Jodie Santa Cruce it means finding alternatives for spinach and green leaf lettuce.

"I am looking for other leafy vegetables to use in minestrone and other pasta dishes, said Santa Cruce.

Once again, E-coli is to blame. So far no one has died from tainted lettuce. But three died nationwide from spinach -- and hundreds became sick. Like spinach, green leafy lettuce is being pulled from the shelve and destroyed.

Santa Cruce says she still believes they are an important part of a healthy diet and she is not scared to buy vegetables .

"I'm confident. I'm trusting in the government to contain the contaminated pieces."
