Espresso Stand Owner Concerned About Rash of Robberies
YAKIMIA, Wa - Three robberies in the last six days, that's causing quite a stir at espresso stands in Yakima. One woman who owns one of the espresso stands that was robbed says she's getting concerned because suspect is coming inside the stands.
"Inside here was our comfort zone," says Kristina Loveland, owner of 'Dreams of Paradise', "Now we feel violated."
Her espresso stand was robbed on Saturday at 2:30 in the afternoon.
"It's more shocking the way he's coming into the espresso stand," Loveland says.
In last night's robbery at the Jitter Bean on South First Street, the suspect briefly kidnapped the employee.
Loveland says she's concerned that these stands are becoming bigger targets because most are cash only businesses and the employees - usually women - work alone. That's no longer the case at her espresso stand.
"I told my girls, it's gonna happen again. You have to be on your guard, because when you aren't is when you are the most vulnerable," Loveland says.
All three robberies, including the one at Loveland's espresso stand, happened in the same general area in Yakima. Police don't think these stands are becoming bigger because these three all involve the same suspect. They usually average about one espresso stand robbery per month.
