Accident Causes Diesel Spill in Union Gap

UNION GAP, Wash -- Police are searching for the driver of a truck who spilled gallons of diesel fuel and then fled the scene. The accident happened late Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Ahtanum Road and 3rd Avenue.

Fire officials closed down parts of Ahtanum Road and  poured sand and kitty litter on the diesel to prevent it from running into Wide Hallow Creek.

Chief Tom Kehm, of the Union Gap Fire Department, said about 20 gallons of diesel was spilled -- with about 3 gallons running into the creek.
