Yakima, wash. - Yakima Mike McGavick supporters got a special treat at the Clarion Hotel on First Street on Wednesday night.
The republican senate candidate kicked off his fundraiser just about a few hours ago.
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne joined McGavick at the event as a special guest speaker.
McGavick stressed the importance of people from the eastside of the state voting in the upcoming general election.
He also said Eastern Washington has its own set of needs.
McGavick also supports the black rock project, which helps out farmers across Eastern Washington.
He arrived in Yakima this afteroon and held a press conference at the county's republican party headquarters.
That's where he unveiled a new TV ad today and discussed his upcoming debate in Spokane with Maria Cantwell.
