LA CENTER, Wash.- A Pasco man is dead after police say he broke into a Clark County substation and tried to steal copper wire.
Bruce Wallace, 47, was electrocuted in near La Center in southwestern Washington Wednesday afternoon.
Police said copper thefts like this are on the rise. The metal's price is at an all time high, and many thieves are stealing it to finance drug habits.
The Bonneville Power Administration says they have spent more than $500,000 dollars dealing with thefts in the last 18 months.
