PASCO, Wash. - Columbia Basin College is receiving over half a million dollars to expand its program helping small businesses.
CBC officials said this grant will have a tremendous impact low income Latino business owners.
The grant comes from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, given to CBC because it is a Hispanic Serving Institution. Over 26 percent of CBC students are Hispanic.
Officials said a portion of the grant will help expand the CBC Community Business and Training Resource Center, which will allow more space for small business and training seminars.
Officals said it will help both students and business owners.
"It gives us the hands on experience and marketing experience as far as students at the same time we're able our local economy."
CBC plans to complete the expanded building next fall.
