YAKIMA, Wash. - A two-week event celebrating "Dia de Los Muertos" starts Saturday in downtown Yakima. Organizers say it's a multi-cultural fiesta.
Dia de Los Muertos means "Day of the Dead" and honors those who have died. The Washington State Arts Commission has provided $6,000 for the event, and businesses in downtown Yakima will provide window space for artistic memorials.
Events include a farmer's market from 11:00 am-5:00 pm on Saturday, a street festival downtown from 4:00-8:00 pm, and a mariachi and street dance from 7:00-8:30 pm.
