Cougs Upset Bruins, Are Now Bowl Eligible

PASADENA, Calif. - The Washington State Cougars are bowl eligible. Alex Brink passed for 405 yards and three touchdowns, and the Cougars dominated the second half in beating UCLA 37 to 15 today at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Washington State improved its record to 6 and 3 overall and, 4 and 2 in the Pac-10. The Cougars became eligible for one of the Pac-10's six bowl berths. The Cougars outscored the Bruins 23 to 0 in the second half. They took a 20 to 15 lead late in the third quarter on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Brink to Brandon Gibson. Brink completed 28 of 38 passes with two interceptions. Gibson caught eight passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, and Jason Hill had five receptions for 115 yards and one TD for Washington State. WSU has three regular-season games left, including Arizona in Pullman next Saturday at 4 p.m.
