KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police are searching for four suspects connected to a hit and run accident.
A car was stolen from Umatilla County several weeks ago and turned up in Kennewick last night.
Kennewick Police said an officer tried to stop a 1991 blue Honda Accord near North Arthur Street and Metaline Avenue. Police said there were four Hispanic males between the ages of 18 and 25 in the car.
Police said the car took off and the officer did not pursue vehicle because he feared a high-speed chase would endanger members of the community.
Police said the spotted the car minutes later near Canal Street and Edison Street.
The officer approached the car, but the driver smashed into another car and took off again.
Police said situations like this are all too common. Kennewick Police Sergeant Randy Higgins said, "The world is just becoming more violent and the Tri-Cities is not exempt from the violence that's happening nationwide."
Police report that the man's car that was hit suffered minor damage and the fleeing suspect's car was left, abandoned near Kellogg Street.
Police used a K-9 to search for the suspects, but no one was found.
