Workers Clean Up After Van Rams Into Corner Store
PASCO, Wash. - The owners of a local corner store on Court Street in Pasco said they'll be cleaning up the mess left behind after an alleged drunk driver rammed his van into the side of the business. So far, a contractor hired to fix the mess estimates the damage at around $50,000.
"We're just trying to get back to our routine," said store owner Randy Singh.
The store may be open for business, but workers at Mr. Qwik's spend their Monday night trying to bandage up the gaping hole in the side of their shop. Workers were tallying up all of the lost goods and taking inventory of everything ruined.
"How am I going to clean up this mess," joked store clerk David Valdez.
Despite the night's frigid temperatures, everyone was also counting their blessings.
"You can laugh about this but no one got hurt and that's what we're thankful for," said Singh.
Somehow the van missed a dozen propane tanks by inches and a worker by mere minutes.
"Our shift change is at 10 o'clock and another worker was running about 15 minutes late. If she'd been on time, the other worker would have been in the back stocking shelves," said Singh.
"If you get denied to buy beer go home that's probably what you need to do," said Valdez.
