RICHLAND, Wash. - A traffic alert for drivers using State Route 240. Washington State Department of Transportation will close of a portion of the highway for five days.
If you live in Richland and want to head into Kennewick this weekend you're going to have to plan a new way to get around.
Starting Thursday morning 9:00 a.m. crews will close the 240 East bound lanes between George Washington Way and Columbia Center Boulevard. That means you won't be able to drive from Richland to Kennewick on the 240. That includes the 240 onramps from I-182.
Crews understand if will be rough to get around. But they said this is the last big closure before the project is done.
"And now we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel," said Moe Davari, Project Engineer, Washington State Department of Transportation.
Crews are closing the ramps to reroute traffic next week onto the new section of the Yakima River Bridge.
Lanes and ramps will reopen at 5:30 Monday morning.
