Toppenish Trick Or Treater Recovering From Injuries
TOPPENISH, Wash. - A trick or treater is recovering from an injury on Tuesday night in Toppenish.
A car hit a 7-year-old boy around the 400 block of Buena Way.
The boy was out trick or treating around 7 p.m., when he ran across the street and that's when a car hit him and injured his leg.
Sergeant Curtis Ruggles of the Toppenish Police Department said the boy's mom took him to the hospital for precautionary measures.
However, he said the boy should be fine and escaped with only minor injuries.
Ruggles also said these types of incidents are not so abmornal around this time of the year.
"Halloween I would say would be a pretty good case because there are lots of kids out," he said. "There's traffic, especially when we have a state route that runs through town, with lots of cars coming through."
Ruggles also said he didn't give the driver of the car a ticket.
Instead he thinks both the driver and the trick or treater learned valuable lessons from the incident.
