Pear Tree Apartments passes environmental impact review
YAKIMA, Wash -- A controversial new building is one step closer to becoming a reality.
Pear Tree Place apartments in Yakima passed an environmental impact review. The complex at the corner of Powerhouse and Englewood roads is designed to be a home for people recovering from substance abuse problems.
Neighbors are unhappy with the building plans. They are worried that the school and several churches could be negatively impacted. Additionally, they dislike that the builder is a non-profit and the city is paying many of the cost usually assumed by builders.
