Congressman Doc Hastings was in town looking for your vote Thursday night. He talked about high gas prices and cheaper alternatives. It all happened at a Biofuels Summit at Columbia Basin College.
Senator Mike Hewitt and Congressman Hastings headlined the speaker list. Both Hewitt and Hastings talked about the economic benefits of growing biofuels in Eastern Washington. They said that growing the products needed for these fuels offers huge tax breaks for farmers. Hastings said that alternative fuels could be the wave of the future if some economic problems are solved.
Congressman Hastings opponent in the November Election, Democrat Richard Wright, says on his website that he supports laws that reduce America's dependence on foreign oil.
