Yakima School District Announces New Member of Board of Directors
YAKIMA, Wa - The Yakima School District announces a new addition to its Board of Directors. Ray Navarro will replace Jim Scoggins.
Navarro works with OIC of Washington as a program manager for the Washington Farm Worker Investment Program. He's also an adjunct professor at Heritage University.
Navarro has experience in teaching and administration, but says his biggest asset is what he learned growing up in Wapato.
"You know my dad pulled us out of poverty, but I do know what it is to be struggling everyday and trying to survive and going to school and being successful," says Navarro, "I think I could be a good role model to students because of that."
Navarro says his two big priorities when he joins the board will be the drop out rates and graduation requirements.
