Benton PUD Encouraging Commercial Energy Conservation
KENNEWICK, Wash.- Benton PUD is rewarding businesses that make an effort to conserve energy.
From new lighting, to new appliances, businesses that install them might be eligible for a rebate through the PUD.
Benton PUD is refunding up to 70% of the cost of switching if they change to energy efficient lighting similar to this.
Here's how it works, businesses can switch out things like lighting systems, and if they reduce energy use by at least 30%, the PUD will refund much of the conversion cost.
Businesses like Ranch and Home and Columbia Center Mall have already made the switch, and more are following. It's something the PUD says benefits everyone.
"Conservation for years has been a value to all of our customers. The more we save now the less we have to generate for power in the future cause we're all growing and loads continue to grow and this is a way to help mitigate that," said Chris Johnson with Benton PUD.
Johnson said it's easy to get involved in the program. All you need to do is give them a call, and set up a free consultation. They'll come out to your business and tell you what you need to do to get a rebate.
