TRI-CITIES, Wash. - If you ride Ben Franklin Transit buses on Saturdays prepare for some changes.
The Dial-A-Ride vehicles will now be used on some Saturday routes.
Ben Franklin Transit said they are trying to save money.
Transit officials said Dial-A-Ride vehicles are smaller; use less gas, and easier to repair.
Ben Franklin Transit receives most of their money to run the bus system through sales tax and said less people are buying in the Tri-Cities, which is putting a financial strain on business.
Transit authorities said they are going through a difficult financial time.
Ben Franklin Transit representative Christy Watts said, "But one of the things we don't want to do is let that tough time effect our service to our customers so we are taking some measures to do something internally that we think will help."
The Dial-A-Ride vehicle will be used Saturdays on routes 45, 46, 47, and 48 in Kennewick, routes 20 and 24 in Richland and routes 66 and 67 in Pasco.
