WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - She said it was a battle for the past several years, but now Michelle Marcum can say the West Richland Golf Course is back in her hands.
On Monday night, only one council member voted against choosing to go with Marcum. She's the woman who's been running the course for well over a decade.
Marcum said she knew she was going to have to bid high against Nick Manolopoulos who also was interested in the course. She outbid him by nearly $500,000.
City council members said it's not just about golf. The city will now have over $1.75 million to work with and that money will go back into the community.
Next, Marcum said she will bring the club house up to code and hopes the city will let her pave the parking lot. West Richland Mayor Dale Jackson told Marcum he appreciated all of her perseverance in their drawn out battle.
