Naches Skier Returns Home to Promote Film
YAKIMA, Wash. - A Naches skier made a special visit to the Capitol Theater on Friday night to help promote a film he's being featured in.
Andy Mahre joined over a hundred people to see Warren Miller's new film 'Off The Grid.'
and it wasn't only off the grid, it was also off da hook, or ski lift for that matter. The cold air outside the capitol surely gave the feeling of the skiing atmosphere. People from all over the valley were ready to get in the mood for the much anticipated film.
It's being billed as the largest winter sports movie of the year.
And Naches native Andy Mahre made his second appearance in one of Miller's films.
Mahre said being in the movie is probably one of his greatest accomplishments in the sport.
"Warren Miller like being in one of his films has been a dream of mine as a kid," he said. "Growing up watching his movies, it's like man, it would be so much fun to be apart of one of those, couple of years, 10 years later, there i am."
'Off The Grid' takes top skiers from around the world and films them on the globe's toughest skiing destinations.
The movie tour heads to Richland in the Tri-Cities on Saturday.
Mahre is going to switch roles in his next endeavor. He plans to join up with a couple of buddys to make their own film.
