KENNEWICK, Wash. - He is known internationally as a gay rights advocate and founded the Metropolitan Community Church.
This is the first time Reverend Troy Perry has traveled to the Tri-Cities.
He is known around the world for founding the world's largest church for gays, lesbians, and bisexuals.
He opened his first MCC church in 1968 and today there are over 300 in 25 different countries.
Perry said among other issues, legal acknowledgement of gay unions is a top priority.
Perry said, "I tell people, you can't have two water fountains, we've tried that in America and it didn't work. It's got to be one."
Perry preached that the Kennewick Metropolitan Community Church Sunday morning.
Members of the church said they have been planning for him to come for a year.
