SELAH, Wash -- When Selah Mayor Bob Jones found out that the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps wanted to meet in Selah, he knew it could be a problem. "I was concerned," said Jones. "I didn't want to see anyone get injured."
In total, there were 17 police officers at the protest keeping the peace-- costing the city $1500.00.
"It might have been overkill on some of the police," said Jones. "But on the other hand. I would rather have too many than not enough, if something were to go wrong."
Jones said both groups behaved themselves, and credits the Selah Police Department with ensuring that the day remained calm.
