Phase Two State Route 397 and I-82 Intertie is Done
FINLEY, Wash.- Completion of the Finley Road and SR-397 Intertie is one step closer to complete.
The new road will connect Highway 397 with I-82, giving truckers better access to the Finley area.
Officials from around the region held a ribbon cutting and groundbreaking at the site.
It marks the completion of Phase 2, a 5 mile stretch of the road, and the start of the final stage, which will connect to SR-397.
It is something that people hope will spur growth in Finley.
"Several thousand jobs that the city of Kennewick and the port of Kennewick are going to need to see happen for our community over the next ten years as Hanford phases down and we look at economic development," said Benton County Commissioner Claude Oliver.
The project is part of a group effort between Benton County, the Washington Department of Transportation and the City of Kennewick.
It was nearly $22 million in the making, but leaders said it will pay more than that back into the local economy.
