Clements Will Seek Senate Seat Vacated by Retiring Senator Deccio

YAKIMA, Wa -  State representative Jim Clements announces that he'll seek the senate seat vacated by the retiring Alex Deccio in the 14th legislative district.

This comes just months after Clements said he wasn't going to seek re-election to the house.

Clements spoke to media about his plans at the Yakima Convention Center today.

He first must win support from the Republican Central Committee.  They'll pick three candidates to present to the Yakima County Commissioners, who will then pick deccio's replacement.

Representative elect Charles Ross and Senator Jim Honeyford were there at Clements' announcement today.

Honeyford showed his support for Clements by giving him "survival" work boots to symbolize the tough battles they'll face in the state senate controled by democrats should Clements win the appointment.
