Some People Unhappy with Tieton Water Distribution
TIETON, Wash. - There has been some confusion for some people in Tieton, who are angry about how much water they are getting.
But the mayor said the city is trying its best to help everyone in the community. One person from Tieton isn't satisfied with the situation.
Elizabeth Gordon attempted to get her share of water on Thursday afternoon. However, she was surprised and even angered at the amount of bottled water they offered her.
Gordon said she refused to take any water after the city told her about what they could give her.
And she plans to take the matter into her own hands and buy her own water.
"We haven't had water since Tuesday night," she said. "A gallon of water isn't enough to wash yourself with and i felt it was not adequate."
However, Tieton mayor Norma Joiner says people should stop by city hall and pick up as much water as they need.
But she says it should be used for the right reasons
"We're trying to get immediate drinking water," she said. "water for consumption first, so we're trying to make sure everyone in the city gets some water and meets their immediate needs."
Joiner also said people are allowed to fill as many containers as they want and there's also no limit to refill those containers.
The city is bringing in more water on Friday and crews will be out there distributing water throughout the day.
