Man took Kennewick Police on 9 minute chase

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A man suspected of trying to break into a business got away from the scene by leading police on a chase.

Police said it started when a security alarm at Inn Toon Stereo on Clearwater Avenue went off just before one Sunday morning.

Police said they showed up right away because there have been several commercial burglaries in the area.

Officers tried to question 37-year-old Keith Togerson who was by the store, but he took off and took police on a 9-minute chase.

Kennewick Sergeant Jesse Mill said, "He just complicated his problem, it becomes a felony when you elude a police vehicle in a reckless manner that is a separate charge no matter what the original charge was for."

Togerson took police through the east end of Kennewick, then towards 4th and Yelm and was finally caught near First Avenue, hiding in a bush.

Togerson denied that he was trying to break into the business. Police continued to investigate.
