YAKIMA, Wash. - A local casino is looking to Las Vegas for inspiration.
The Thunderbird Casino will get a 10,000 square foot addition soon, which will triple the size of its operation.
General manager Jon Crowell said they're going for a Vegas-style look. The new casino section will add more tables, another bar and pool tables. The existing casino will be converted into a room for live entertainment and dancing. The casino will also add up to 50 more jobs.
And Crowell said the casino should be done with the expansion around the first of next year.
"The main goal is just to bring in exciting entertainment to Yakima and really upgrade from the current card room that we're at right now to an actual classy casino where some could bring a date and have a good time," he said.
