Thanksgiving Driving

Many are battling high winds and snow on the way to their Thanksgiving Dinner. The weather, along with the 32 million travellers on American roads creates a dangerous situation.

DOT officials say that the time you choose to drive could make you more safe. Officials say that if you are driving over the pass you should avoid peak hours. On Thanksgiving Day,drivers will see the heaviest traffic between 3 and 5 pm.

On Sunday, drivers are to expect heavy traffic between 11 am and 8 pm. DOT officials also say that if traveling across the pass it is best to reach the summit by noon.

DOT officials also recommend that you make sure your car is road ready, that your wiper blades, headlights, and tires have all been checked before you go. Through the passes, the National Weather Service is expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight and another 3 to 5 tomorrow.
