KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-Cities Women Helping Women group is distributing 95,000 dollars to a number of local programs.
The majority of the money was raised during a dinner held a few weeks ago. The group systemically selected Tri-City programs that need some extra cash.
The Benton Franklin Domestic Violence Agency was one of the many groups selected. They said they plan on using it to reach out to victims.
Shelter Services Director Erinn Gailey said, "One of the dynamics to domestic violence is that victims are so isolated they're not aware of our services so for us to be able to reach out to them and get the message that there's help, there's support, it's a wonderful opportunity."
Women Helping Women leaders stress they pick specific programs rather than overall organizations.
