Care packages go straight to the troops

YAKIMA, Wash -- American soldiers maybe miles away from home this holiday season but they are not forgotten.

Operation Thank You of Yakima is organizing care packages for troops serving overseas -- especially Yakima Valley soldiers. They are sending everything from hot coco to pop corn to toothpaste and razors.

All of the items in the packages are donations from the Yakima community. This is their second shipment to troops, recently they sent a shipment to a medical unit in Iraq.

"Their commander sent us a letter because he said it goes way out in the sticks where nobody has anything," said Connie Gotzh, of Operation Thank you. "He said it was greatly appreciated."

If you would like to donate, bring non perisable items to 3W Trucking at 309 South 4th Avenue in Yakima.
