Yakima Man Charged in Oregon Murder

TROY, Ore. - A murder in Oregon leads to prosecutors charging a Yakima man with manslaughter. Wallowa County prosecutors are charging 40-year-old Benjamin Paul Harrell of Yakima with first degree manslaughter.

Right now Harrell is in the Umatilla County Jail. Authorities said on Saturday evening, Harrell shot and killed 26-year-old Robert Eugene Mills in Troy, Oregon.

The Wallowa County Undersheriff said right now he has limited information why Harrell supposedly shot Mills, but he expects to have answers soon.

"This investigation is being handled by several different offices including ours, the Oregon State Police Major Crimes Team, Walla Walla Police Department, and the Walla Walla County Coroner's Offices," said Steve Rogers, Wallowa County Undersheriff.

Rogers said those agencies will have more information available next week.
